Henderson County Commissioners handled a slate of routine agenda items in their March 3 regular session, unanimously approving donations, appointments, contracts, budget amendments, bills and plats.
The court accepted a $500 donation from Steve Grant Real Estate for the Travis Letter Monument and a $520.97 check from Caring for America to fund equipment for Constable Precinct 4. Sheriff’s Office travel for Deputy Jared Mills to attend ATF post-blast investigation training in Redstone, Alabama, March 8–14, was approved; lodging and tuition had already been paid and the county will cover fuel costs.
The court approved an internal reclassification in the fire marshal’s office (assistant fire marshal to investigator; environmental crimes officers to environmental crimes inspectors) to clarify duties and broaden hiring flexibility without adding funding, after an explanation from Mister Pate of the fire marshal’s office. Three members were reappointed to the Henderson County Regional Fair Park board (Cliff Smith, Matt Tyler and Casey Watson), and Barbara Lovelady, chief deputy in the tax assessor-collector’s office, was appointed as Henderson County’s representative to the City of Athens Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 1 board.
The court approved a right-of-entry agreement to enter private property (ID 229449) to perform drainage maintenance along O’Neil Road in Precinct 1 and approved right-of-way permits for a 6-inch water line installation on County Road 1406 for Crescent Heights Water Supply and a buried fiber-optic installation along County Road 2931 and Peaceful Woods Drive for a fiber contractor. A sign language interpreting contract with Tyler Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center was approved with the county judge authorized to sign.
County staff presented payroll distribution totals and accounts/cash sheets; the court approved payroll disbursements and the accounts/cash sheet for January 2026. Budget amendments were introduced as part of an ongoing process and were approved; staff noted more amendments will follow. The court also approved displayed FY2025 and FY2026 bills as presented, noting included payments such as one to Andrews Center.
Final plats were approved for Pinnacle Club Phase 1 (creating Lot 135R) and Scenic Acres (11 lots from ~23.5 acres) for filing purposes only; the Scenic Acres approval included an easement and deed restriction to address a driveway/curve concern.
All listed items were approved by voice vote and recorded as passing unanimously. The court adjourned at 09:52.
