Commissioners reviewed agenda item 11a, which seeks approval to issue a notice of intent and negotiate a contract for professional engineering services for county parks facilities. Staff said four firms were identified through the qualifications process and that each provided past-work examples and references.
Several commissioners asked that the firms’ past projects and visual materials be shared with the whole board prior to a final decision. "They provided the qualifications with past work and recommendations," staff said, adding that the presentations and supporting materials would be sent to commissioners the next day. One commissioner asked that future RFQs include examples displayed on a screen so the board can evaluate aesthetics and scope rather than rely solely on names.
Why this matters: commissioners said seeing concrete examples of completed projects would help the board refine priorities and ensure the chosen firm has relevant park and facility experience. Staff agreed to distribute presentations and past-work examples to commissioners before further action.
