The Georgia World Congress Center Authority requested $12 million for electrical-system upgrades to support large trade shows and events and noted additional one-time security funding in the budget for FIFA-related needs.

Kevin Duvall, CEO of the World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA), told the subcommittee the authority supports hundreds of events, generates substantial economic impact statewide, and is requesting $12 million for electrical systems upgrades to improve reliability, safety and capacity for exhibit power on the show floor. He said the funds would support comprehensive design and procurement for an initial phase of equipment replacement, including bus duct, distribution breakers and lighting controls.
