A staff presenter told the board that acreage shares in the drainage area varied by jurisdiction, saying, "Sani's got 41%. We're 28%. Kanabik is 20, and Chisago was 11," to illustrate how costs and benefits will be apportioned. The presenter said about 350 acres in Pine County would be in the drainage share and noted the redetermination process can result in assessments for property owners in places like Royalton Township.
Board members acknowledged the technical nature of the ditch process and that legal and engineering work is required to complete the redetermination. The resolution (2026-08) was approved; the county will continue to lead operations while the membership change adds affected jurisdictions to the authority.
Staff said the next step is scheduling meetings to work through the redetermination details and to notify potentially affected landowners about possible assessments. The board appointed an official representative to the authority as part of the roll-call process.
No dollar amounts for assessments were specified in the meeting record; staff said the redetermination and associated administrative costs will also be borne by participating property owners.
