The McKinney City Council on Dec. 17 approved a resolution appointing the city’s representative to the North Texas 9‑1‑1 Emergency Communications District board for a two‑year term beginning Jan. 1. Staff said the current representative, Councilman Franklin, could be reappointed but the council voted to appoint a different member.
Council members nominated and seconded a candidate and the motion carried unanimously. Staff described the appointment as a two‑year term that begins Jan. 1 and noted the district includes representatives from across the area to coordinate emergency‑communications services.
What happens next: the appointed council member will begin serving on the regional 9‑1‑1 board Jan. 1 and represent McKinney in regional emergency‑communications planning and policy work.
