The Pleasantville Board of Education on March 3 voted to appoint Bush Law Group as the district’s general counsel and Taylor Law Group as labor counsel after hearing presentations from competing firms.
Danielle Pantaleo and associate Megan Odiella of Bush Law Group described experience in special education, student matters and public contracting; Pantaleo said the firm treats taxpayer funds "as if it were my own." Jeff Catalano of Parker McKay and Lester Taylor of Taylor Law Group also presented credentials and fielded questions about experience with public-school clients.
Board members discussed procedural questions about scoring and the fairness of voting for a firm that did not appear in person; the chair noted the board had reviewed RFPs and scoring prior to the public presentation and that, in some cases, firms were scored based on submitted proposals even if an in-person presentation did not occur.
The board then completed roll-call votes: Taylor Law Group was selected for labor counsel and Bush Law Group was selected for general counsel. The chair congratulated the selected firms and said the district looks forward to working with them.
