Stevens County enters MnDOT detour agreement; bridge replacement dependent on bonding

Stevens County commissioners approved entering into MnDOT agreement number 100Six-two10 to allow a state-directed detour around a county-restricted bridge.
A county representative outlined the official routing for the detour and said the county will post a restricted-bridge sign and maintain a flagged approach in coordination with MnDOT. "They're going to put an additional restricted road sign before the intersection. We have our official one after the intersection," the representative said.
The county representative noted the detour will funnel traffic along a prescribed route while acknowledging that navigation apps may route drivers differently. Commissioners also asked about replacement of the existing bridge; staff said bridge replacement is contingent on securing bridge bonding at the state level and that the structure had recent underwater inspection showing it remains serviceable for several more years.
The board moved and unanimously approved the resolution for Stevens County to enter the agreement with the State of Minnesota.
