Dixie County commissioners approve multiple contracts, postpone water-main award pending grant decision

Staff told the board the water-main extension for Fire Station 6 drew six responsive bids and one bid was found nonresponsive because it lacked a bid bond. Because staff had submitted grant applications on the county’s behalf and a grant-prioritization meeting is scheduled next week, the board voted to table award of the water-main contract until the county learns whether grant money will fund the work.
On leases and facilities, the board authorized moving forward with the U.S. Post Office lease proposal (three five-year renewal options and brokerage fee disclosures presented) and approved an addendum approach for a CareerSource lease contingent on proof of insurance listing the county as an additional insured.
