Summary
Economic Development Director Molly Davies and consultants from Axis Culture Group presented a proposed two-year tourism marketing strategy that outlines market analysis, budget recommendations and metrics. Vice Mayor Marie Moore and Councilor Jessie Murdock volunteered to join a newly proposed advisory working group.
Camp Verde’s mayor and council heard a presentation on Dec. 11, 2024, on a proposed two-year Tourism Marketing Plan intended to increase tourism-related revenue and clarify the town’s visitor identity. Economic Development Director Molly Davies introduced Axis Culture Group representatives Joe Klein and Jon Hatch, who outlined the strategy’s goals and implementation framework.
The plan presented by Axis Culture Group included a market understanding of Camp Verde’s tourism base, recommendations for a two-year marketing budget, communications strategies, proposed metrics to measure success and options for implementation and staffing. Davies said the strategy is the outcome of the town’s strategic planning process and is meant to align tourism promotion with the town’s vision.
Council members asked questions of staff and consultants about assumptions, budget priorities and how success would be measured. During that discussion, Davies asked for a Council member to serve on an advisory working group to guide implementation. Vice Mayor Marie Moore and Councilor Jessie Murdock both volunteered to serve on the working group along with Economic Development staff.
The council did not take formal action to adopt the plan during the work session; staff will continue engagement with the advisory group and return with further implementation details and budget recommendations if requested.
