Henderson City Council approved its consent agenda on Oct. 10, accepting two grants and approving tax releases and refunds for July and August 2022.
The Henderson‑Vance Recreation and Parks Department received a $2,500 award from Carolina Panthers Charities to establish a Challenger Flag Football League, funding equipment and supplies. The City also accepted a $35,092 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) from the U.S. Department of Justice; the grant requires a portion be shared with Vance County, with the City using $20,000 to purchase “stop stick” tire deflation devices and $15,092 allocated to the county.
Finance presented the tax releases and refunds: July totals of $8,138.21 and August totals of $86,015.65, including a range of releases, refunds and discovery adjustments. Council approved the full consent agenda by unanimous vote.
