Nelson County approves $20,216.47 repair for sheriff’s F-150 and orders new county computers

The sheriff also raised the possibility of pursuing a trade through a vendor, Guardian Fleet, as an alternative to repair; the trade option was discussed but the commission approved the repair after receiving the cost estimate.
Auditor Nathan Parks presented computer quotes from NRG intended for the 2024 computer cycle. Commissioner Cameron Swenson moved and Commissioner Steve Forde seconded a motion to accept the NRG quote and invoice the purchase against the 2024 budget; the motion passed on a roll-call vote with all members voting yes.
The commission directed Sheriff Schwind to assemble a detailed cost breakdown for the vehicle work and to draft a policy and estimate for reimbursing deputies who attend court on their off days, as the transcript records that no current pay policy exists for those appearances.
