Edmond council approves routine appointments, a donated K-9 purchase, an OSBI grant and City Center change order

The council accepted previously donated funds held by the Edmond Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association to acquire a replacement K-9. Chief JD Younger said the entire endeavor — purchase, equipment and officer training — has an estimated total cost of about $25,000, with roughly $5,500–$5,600 requested now to cover travel and training for the officer. The council approved acceptance of the donation and the related budget amendment by unanimous vote.
The council also accepted a $987.56 Internet Crimes Against Children grant from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to purchase a desktop computer; Chief Younger said the grant is expenditure-driven and will reimburse the city after purchase. The council approved the grant acceptance and associated budget amendment 5-0.
Finally, Randy Entz, assistant city manager for development services, asked the council to approve a $30,054.71 change order with Scott Rice to cover furniture and equipment needs after moving into the new City Hall and Municipal Court building; staff said the project remained within the overall budget. The council approved the change order and budget amendment unanimously.
Several procedural motions followed (a brief recess to the Edmond Public Works Authority, consent agendas, and an executive session called and closed). No citizens signed up for public comment and the meeting ended with council member and mayoral remarks and an adjournment vote.
