Planning commission recommends approval of CUP for Victoria service center with conditions

Commission chairman James Tharpe read the CUP into the record and the commission entered a public hearing. Applicant Gurdeep Singh and property owner Isaac Adedokun described plans to retain existing site features while adding a hot deli, a one-stop shop for travelers and U-Haul rental. The pair said a proposed mobile home would be intended for employees. When commissioners asked about the potential for trash trucks to stage on the site overnight, Mr. Singh said he did not intend for that use and Mr. Adedokun said he has previously addressed the issue and does not want trash trucks parking on the property. Mr. Singh also said he would work with the Virginia Department of Transportation on any VDOT requests.
After public comment, the commission exited the hearing and adopted two additional conditions before making its recommendation: a prohibition or restriction on overnight trash-truck parking with the exact verbiage to be drafted by Assistant County Attorney Drew DiStanislao and Clerk Taylor N. King, and a condition addressing the proposed employee mobile home, with DiStanislao and King to draft the language for that condition. Commissioner Drummond moved to recommend approval of the CUP with the amended conditions; Commissioner Pennington seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
