Detention Administrator Shayla Ramsey told the Roosevelt County Commission on Aug. 13 that the county detention facility housed 53 people (13 female, 40 male), including three out-of-county detainees, and summarized several in-house programs and training efforts.
Ramsey reported billing to other jurisdictions: $2,000 to Curry County, $625 to Cannon Air Force Base and $3,875 to Chaves County. She said there are 12 participants in the medication-assisted-treatment (MAT) program; all 12 receive group and individual counseling and five receive medication. The facility also has three participants in a GED program and four in anger-management classes; 12 detainees participate in yoga and help maintain a garden.
Ramsey highlighted training activity: three in-house CPR trainers have certified more than 100 people and the detention center offers several other trainings including (listed in the packet) CPR and additional community trainings. She urged the commission and administration to prioritize filling the human-resources coordinator position, citing a constant need for onboarding and training support at the facility.
The commission acknowledged the report during routine departmental updates; no formal action on detention staffing was recorded at this meeting.
