Commission asks staff to draft zoning language for retreats and multiple cabin developments

Staff representative Monica Elder presented the application and commissioners reviewed how other localities regulate retreats, cabins and recreational resorts. Commissioners emphasized the need to set an upper limit on the number of units and to clarify allowable lengths of stay for guests.
Commissioner Cornell Goldman moved that staff prepare recommended zoning language; Commissioner Kenny Howard seconded. Goldman amended his motion to remove the phrase "at the next meeting," and Andrew Carwile seconded the amendment. The amended motion carried with all members present voting yes.
Commissioner Clark Poindexter also moved that the commission hold a special called meeting on April 13, immediately following the planned joint public hearing, to prepare a recommendation on a zoning amendment for nonconforming lots; Kerwin Kunath seconded and the motion carried.
