Board authorizes letter supporting Riverstreet Networks' potential BEAD funding

County Administrator Vivian Seay said Riverstreet's Robert Taylor advised the company may be eligible for BEAD funding but was uncertain the company would receive funds because the county already has county-provided fiber in many areas. Riverstreet requested county support if there are legitimately unserved or underserved locations within King and Queen County.
Supervisor C.R. Billups moved and Supervisor S.C. Alsop seconded approval of the letter; the motion passed unanimously. Billups asked the company to notify the board if it secures BEAD funds. The action is limited to a letter of support and does not commit the county to any funding or matching obligations in the transcript.
