HENDERSON, N.C. — The Henderson City Council on Oct. 13 approved a package of land-use and capital items and discussed ongoing sewer improvements tied to state funding.
Council voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance 25-20, extending the city’s corporate limits to include a newly annexed area assigned to Ward 4 to allow a developer access to public utilities. The public hearing drew no speakers for or against; Councilmember Tami Walker moved the ordinance and Councilmember Ola Thorpe-Cooper seconded. The ordinance passed with affirmative votes from Councilmembers Sam Seifert, Michael Venable, Garry D. Daeke, Ola Thorpe-Cooper, Tami Walker and Geraldine Champion; Councilmember Sara M. Coffey was absent.
During discussion, Councilmember Garry D. Daeke asked whether the Sandy Creek sewer system could serve the newly annexed area and whether pump capacity and wet-well size were adequate.
