Fulton County commissioners on Feb. 24 approved and executed a proclamation declaring March 2026 as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
The board met with a coalition of local disability service providers and community members for the signing. Attendees recorded in the transcript included Marissa Hockenberry (Occupational Services Inc.), Erica Ramsey (CRI), Rebecca Weaver (Franklin/Fulton IDD Program Specialist), Deanna Shaeffer (Full Circle Residence), Lianne Garner (Full Circle Residence), Donald Smith (Full Circle Residence), Leigh-Anna Lupey and Ian Lupey (Lupey Behavioral Services), Julia Dovey (Fulton County Human Services), Lorrie Miller, Lisa Grimes, Wendy Buckwalter and Lana Crouse (The Arc of Franklin/Fulton Counties), Logan Crouse (consumer) and Stacey Brookens (MH/IDD/EI), as well as Faye and Keith Butts.
On a motion by Commissioner Hervey P. Hann, the board unanimously approved the proclamation, which commends the observance to citizens and recognizes the county’s interest in fostering inclusive communities. A group photograph of commissioners and attendees was taken during the signing.
