Gladwin County commissioners on April 22 approved a change to payroll processing designed to reduce last-minute payroll complications.
Administration staff reported that timesheets were arriving late, which left little time to prepare and submit payroll. Commissioner Tami O'Donnell moved, supported by Commissioner Tom Winarski, to require that timesheets be submitted by noon on Monday and that payments be processed on Wednesday; the board also set a 90-day notice period before the change takes effect. The motion carried.
The board directed administration to implement the change with the announced notice period and to communicate the new deadline to county employees. No additional changes to pay dates or exceptions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
Next steps include communicating the new deadline and updating internal payroll procedures to reflect the 90-day implementation timeline.
