The Belgrade City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2025-535 on Sept. 15 to adopt the Belgrade Safety Action Plan, an advisory document the city engineer said was developed with consultant Kilson and Associates and funded by a Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant.
City Engineer Joe told the council the plan was produced with input from staff, regional partners and the public; he said the plan was posted online Aug. 11 and that staff had not received public comment to date. Deputy leadership and councilmembers underscored that the plan is advisory and not a change in law. "One thing to point out in the resolution is that this is an advisory document," the city manager said during the discussion.
Why it matters: the plan will guide future street-safety projects and priorities but does not, on its own, create new regulations. Adoption signals the council's intent to use the plan as a policy and funding guide for future street safety work.
Next steps: staff will use the plan as a framework for future street projects and grant applications; no immediate implementation actions were authorized by the resolution itself.
