The Commission unanimously approved minutes for the Jan. 21 meeting and heard two proclamations read into the record. Acting Chairman Commissioner Reginald Murray read a proclamation presented to Mrs. LaDonna Beck and Northside High School FBLA "proclaiming February 9-15, 2026, as 'National Future Business Leaders of America Week.'" He also read a proclamation presented to Mr. Dennis Duncan proclaiming February 2026 as "Career and Technical Education Month."
Assistant County Administrator Chris Cunningham presented two ward-boundary corrections that commissioners approved. The first amended the Ward 23/Ward 29 line to transfer four properties on Fox Ridge Road into Ward 23 so affected residents will vote at the same polling location as their neighbors. The second moved the New Life Baptist Church property from Ward 44 into Ward 46 to place the polling location property within the proper ward; officials said no voters would be affected by that correction.
The Commission adopted a resolution approving the preliminary plat submission for the Resurvey of Lot 1, Barbed Wire Estates 2, in District I. County Engineer Scott Anders presented two additional preliminary subdivisions for review but those items were presented rather than adopted.
On enforcement and property-maintenance matters, commissioners voted to commence condemnation proceedings for a parcel at 2507 Alabama Ave NE (Parcel# 30-03-05-4-003-004.000, District II). They granted 60-day extensions to two property owners making repairs (4 Duncan Dr NE and 3201 Jordan McGee Rd., Cottondale) and removed two properties from the Public Nuisance/Demolition list after owners cleared the sites (14138 Paul Howell Rd., Northport; 18 Ross Dr., Tuscaloosa). The Commission also voted to fix the cost of demolition and file a lien of $3,781.60 on 3825 12th Street NE, District II, and remove that property from the nuisance list.
Commissioner Murray yielded an agenda item to allocate $5,000 from Community IV Development funds to the West Alabama Food Bank; Commissioner Stan Acker moved and Commissioner Jerry Tingle seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned to Feb. 18, 2026.
