Simpson County fiscal court approves $609,561 in resurfacing projects and KYTC drainage agreement

The court approved Rural Secondary Flex Program recommendations to resurface Eubanks Ford Road (CR1122), New Salem Road (CR1330), Calvert Road (CR1014) and Reames Dixon Road (CR1234) at an estimated total cost of $203,952. Separately, the court approved resurfacing projects on Sloss Road (CR1311), Charlie Butts (CR1213), Kenny Perry (CR1150), Vances Bill (CR1347) and Cedar Bluff (CR1042) with a combined estimated cost of $405,609.
Judge-Executive Bames said the roads selected under the Rural Secondary Flex Program must be approved and inspected by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC). The court also adopted a resolution authorizing an agreement with KYTC to construct a drainage structure on Kenny Perry Drive (CR1150), allocating $80,000 from the CB01 Rural Secondary Fund and authorizing Bames to sign the agreement.
The resurfacing motions passed unanimously. Scott Poston moved to approve the resurfacing projects list; Nathaniel Downey seconded. Magistrates noted that KYTC inspection and approval are prerequisites for the Flex Program projects.
The actions advance maintenance work already prioritized for FY22-23; the court recorded estimated project costs but did not present final contract awards or construction start dates at the meeting. KYTC approval and inspection were listed as required next steps.
