Board adopts updated Solid Waste Management Plan covering 20-year horizon

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a revised Solid Waste Management Plan at its July 8 meeting after a public hearing.
Bob Pfister, introduced as Meridian Waste’s new Virginia area president, told the board the plan must be updated every five years though it addresses a 20-year planning horizon. The plan was advertised and reviewed under state regulations (VAC Title 9, Agency 20, Chapter 130) and requires a board resolution to adopt. Supervisor Frank Bacon moved to exit the public hearing and later moved to approve the June 2021 revised plan; the motion passed 7–0.
The adoption sets the county and the towns of Kenbridge and Victoria on the updated plan path for waste planning and recycling operations. County staff and Meridian Waste will proceed with implementation steps and reporting required under the regulations.
