Spencer County authorizes offer on surplus school property after executive session; court votes not to repave Washburn Lane

After moving into executive session to discuss real-estate acquisition and pending litigation, Spencer County Fiscal Court returned to open session and took two consequential votes July 18.
The court authorized the County Judge Executive to make an offer on a tract of surplus school property on Main Cross Street. The roll-call vote for that motion recorded "Ayes" from Magistrates Jim Travis, Jerry Moody and Brewer, and County Judge Executive John Riley; "Nays" were Magistrates Beaverson and M. Moody. The motion passed.
The court also addressed a prior plan to widen and repave Washburn Lane. Magistrate Travis renewed concerns that a previously approved widening had not been completed; after discussion the court voted to not repave Washburn Lane during this administration. The roll-call vote on that motion recorded "Ayes" from Magistrates Travis, M. Moody, J. Moody and Brewer; "Nays" were Magistrate Beaverson and Judge Riley. Meeting minutes reference the earlier November 2021 vote authorizing widening work that had not been completed and include a request for the judge executive to uphold that prior vote.
The meeting adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
