The Dickson County Commission voted on June 20 to appoint Brian Ragan as interim state representative for Tennessee’s 69th Legislative District following the May 31 resignation of Representative Michael Curcio. County Clerk Luanne Greer recorded an 11–1 roll-call vote; the chair declared Brian Ragan duly elected to serve until the November 2022 election is certified.
The nomination period opened at the meeting and included public recommendations. Jasmine Brand and Olivia Ann Kuhns publicly recommended Martha Shepard; Commissioner Linda Hayes nominated both Shepard and Brian Ragan. Both candidates spoke to the commission before the roll-call vote was taken.
The commission followed its roll-call vote with a formal resolution (06-2022-09) to appoint Ragan to the Tennessee General Assembly as the interim representative. The resolution records the vote total and the interim term’s end point (certification of the November 2022 election).
