County administrator outlines outreach, Crystal Lake project, CPR training and staffing needs

County Administrator Katie Zeits reported several ongoing county activities during the Oct. 22 Benzie County Board meeting.
Zeits said she had met with multiple townships and village officials in recent weeks to provide information about upcoming millages and discussed the Corridor Improvement Authority with the Village of Honor. She reported participating in panels at the Merit and Michigan Broadband Summit and said the county has drawn interest from attendees about broadband topics. Zeits briefed commissioners on an on-site meeting with Spicer Group, EGLE and Parks & Recreation regarding the Crystal Lake Outlook Project, and said the Betsie Valley Trail RFP for paving has been approved by the DNR and is awaiting a final signature.
Zeits noted the Benzie County Road Commission will host an open house on Oct. 26, and announced county CPR training for staff and commissioners on Nov. 8. She also said grant-writing needs were being discussed with townships, schools and Grow Benzie and that the Sheriff’s Vehicle Take Home Policy is still being developed by the Sheriff’s Office.
