Steuben County Council re-elects Richard Shipe as president, names Ruth Beer vice president

President Richard Shipe called the Steuben County Council to order at 9 a.m. on Jan. 12, 2016, and the body moved quickly to elect leadership for the year. Ken Shelton nominated Richard Shipe for Council President and Dan Caruso seconded; after nominations were closed, the motion to elect Shipe carried with seven ayes.
Jim Getz nominated Ruth Beer for Vice President; Linda Hansen seconded and the Council approved the nomination by the same 7–0 margin. The Council then proceeded through the rest of its special-session agenda, including multiple appropriations and ordinance amendments.
The elections set the leadership team for the year; Council members present were Richard Shipe, Ruth Beer, Jim Getz, Dan Caruso, Wil Howard, Ken Shelton and Linda Hansen. The meeting record shows the votes recorded as seven ayes on the nominations. The Council adjourned after completing its agenda.
