Sheriff's Office receives state accreditation; board proclaims Emergency Management Professionals Week

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office received a state accreditation award during the March 13 Board of Supervisors meeting. Todd Clingenpell, Accreditation Center Manager for the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission, told the board auditors reviewed more than 570 points and that roughly 100 sheriff's offices statewide hold the accreditation; he said auditors were "very impressed" with the department and deputies' service. Sheriff Freeman thanked staff, the board and citizens for their support.
Separately, the board unanimously adopted a proclamation designating March 19 through March 23, 2023 as Emergency Management Professionals' Week in Charlotte County and urged recognition of the county emergency management team for their role in preparedness, response and recovery.
Both items were adopted by voice or roll-call vote recorded in the meeting minutes.
