Simpson County Fiscal Court approves benefits renewals, insurance buy-down and several budget transfers; special budget meeting set

At its June 4 meeting, the Simpson County Fiscal Court approved a package of fiscal actions including employee benefits renewals, an insurance deductible buy-down for four county buildings, multiple interline budget transfers, a $98,750 cash transfer from the General Fund to the Jail Fund, and the approval of bills and claims entered into the record.
Magistrate Marty Chandler moved and Magistrate Scott Poston seconded approval of employee benefits renewals covering Anthem Health, Delta Dental, AirMedCare Network, McGregor Employee Benefits Administrators & Consultants, FSA and HRA plans and life insurance; the court authorized County Judge Executive Mason Bames to sign all necessary documents.
The court also authorized purchasing buy-down coverage that reduces the 1% convective storm deductible to $25,000 for four county structures. The buy-down cost was listed as: Historical Society Building $2,476.73; Historic Courthouse $7,317.93; Jail $19,075.72; Justice Center $15,256.63, for an annual premium totaling $44,127.00. Magistrate Jeffrey Burr moved and Magistrate Myron Thurman seconded that purchase; the motion passed unanimously.
A number of budget transfers between line items were approved; examples entered into the meeting record included transfers such as $2,608 from sheriff vehicles to deputy salaries, $48,320 moved into taxing districts from an electrical contract account, and $25,000 shifted to jail food from utilities. The court approved a cash transfer of $98,750 from the General Fund to the Jail Fund (Motion by Thurman; Second by Chandler).
