Claiborne County Commission approves Automated License Plate Recognition for sheriff’s office, funded by state grant

The commission approved the sheriff’s office use of Automated License Plate Recognition systems using a Violent Crime Intervention Fund grant and amended the resolution to state there will be no cost to the county.

The Claiborne County Commission on Feb. 20 approved a resolution authorizing the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office to implement Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems. The funding is provided by the Violent Crime Intervention Fund (VCIF) grant through the State of Tennessee, and commissioners amended the resolution to note explicitly that the program will incur no cost to the county.
