Lunenburg supervisors honor Lunenburg Lightning teams and approve $3,000 donation

Supervisor Mike Hankins introduced the resolutions commending the teams' on-field success and sportsmanship; the resolutions named coaches and dozens of players. Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover reminded the board of a prior $3,000 donation to county All-Star baseball and softball teams and asked that funds provided by Meridian Waste for annual donations be used similarly for the Lightning teams.
Supervisor Hoover moved to approve providing $3,000 in Meridian Waste funds to support the Lightning teams; Supervisor Edward Pennington seconded the motion, and the board voted unanimously in favor.
The donation will be drawn from the county funds designated for annual donations provided by Meridian Waste.
