Committee adopts resolution to continue $3 monthly 9‑1‑1 surcharge through 2026

The Alpena County Finance Ways & Means Committee on April 10 adopted Resolution 25‑05 to continue the county’s 9‑1‑1 operating surcharge through the end of December 2026. Emergency Management & E911 Director Kim Elkie presented the resolution and the ballot language the county previously approved in May 2021, which authorizes a monthly surcharge of up to $3.00 on landline, wireless and VoIP service suppliers within Alpena County to be used exclusively for funding 9‑1‑1 emergency telephone call answering and dispatch services, including facilities, equipment and operations.
