Ware County to seek bids to replace aging courthouse plumbing

The Ware County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 27 authorized staff to seek bids to replace the courthouse’s original plumbing systems after staff reported leaking galvanized supply lines and collapsing cast-iron drain lines.
County Manager James Shubert told commissioners that those original plumbing lines have not been replaced since the courthouse was constructed and that cast-iron drain lines are collapsing, causing blockages. Commissioners approved a motion to allow staff to solicit bids; the bid package will require bidders to inspect the pipes in person and to measure linear feet for accurate estimates.
The board did not award a contract at the called meeting; the action approved solicitation of bids so staff can return with proposals and cost estimates.
