Tift County previews cybersecurity renewal, internet upgrade and camera system for July 8 meeting

At a July 2 workshop, Tift County IT Director Al Stephenson asked the Board to place several operational items on the July 8 Consent Agenda, including renewal of Cisco AMP/Umbrella endpoint protection, an internet-service addendum with TruVista, and a camera/lock system for the county's new pickleball facility.
Stephenson said Cisco AMP, installed on every county workstation and server, provides 24-hour monitoring and "has become our primary defense on our endpoints," and recommended renewing the software license so critical updates continue. He also explained the county’s existing 100-megabit connection (originally contracted with Plant Telephone for $599/month) is under growing load from remote users, sheriff uploads and vendor services; TruVista has offered a 500-megabit connection for $699/month to address that demand and staff proposed placing the addendum on the Consent Agenda.
On facility security, staff compared quotes from Coopercraft and ECHO Technologies. Coopercraft's cloud-based camera solution (four cameras with on-device storage and remote access for authorized users) was recommended over ECHO's on-site server option; staff presented a Coopercraft cost of $38,147.98. The board indicated its desire to include these items on the Consent Agenda for the July 8 Regular Session. County Manager Jim Carter also noted the passing of Joe Tillman, who assisted the county with LOST accounting, and the meeting record includes a Library Board appointment candidate, Matthew J. Anderson, for placement on the Regular Agenda.
The board did not take final votes on these items during the workshop; they are scheduled for the July 8 Regular Session in the courtroom downstairs.
