Board approves consent items including cybersecurity renewal and ARPA-funded pickleball security; names new library board member

The Tift County Board of Commissioners on July 8 approved its consent agenda, which included three items: a Cisco AMP/Umbrella cybersecurity software renewal for $10,885.80 funded by the general fund; a Truvista Internet Services addendum for a three-year term at $699 per month; and purchase of locks and a camera system for the county’s pickleball facility from Coopercraft/Avigilon for $38,147.98, to be funded from ARPA.
Commissioner Donnie Hester moved to approve the consent agenda and Commissioner Paul Webb seconded; the board carried the motion 6-0.
On a separate action under the regular agenda, County Clerk Miriam Jordan said the Library Board had one vacancy and presented one applicant, Matthew J. Anderson. Commissioner Melissa Hughes nominated Anderson, Commissioner Greg Wood seconded, and the board appointed Matthew J. Anderson to the Library Board by a 6-0 vote.
Commissioner Melissa Hughes also asked that staff coordinate with the City of Tifton to address replacement of water pipes in South Tifton; no action was taken at the meeting beyond requesting discussion.
