Commissioners approve rezoning to allow insurance office on S. Carpenter Road

The Tift County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on July 8 to approve TC-ZA-24-06, rezoning a 0.85-acre parcel at 1482 S. Carpenter Road from AG (agriculture) to RP (residential/professional) so the owner can move an existing insurance office to that location.
Community Development Services Director Chris Davis told the board staff review found the application met most zoning standards and aligned with the county’s comprehensive plan. The Greater Tift Area Planning Commission considered the request on June 13 and voted unanimously to recommend approval; no members of the public spoke for or against the application at the July 8 hearing.
Commissioner Greg Wood made the motion to approve the rezoning and Commissioner Donnie Hester seconded. The board voted 6-0 to approve the request.
The approval allows the property owner to relocate the insurance business to the South Carpenter Road parcel under RP zoning.
