Commissioners set several routine items for Sept. 9 consent agenda, including audit contract and transit application

Tift County staff briefed commissioners on a range of routine items on Sept. 3 and the board indicated each would be placed on the Sept. 9 consent agenda or regular agenda as noted.
Chief Appraiser Hayward Becton recommended renewing the county's long-standing contract with Traylor Business Services to audit personal property reporting by randomly selected businesses. Cost: $18,000; funding: budgeted.
County Clerk Miriam Jordan said four older vehicles from the Sheriff's Office will be declared surplus after the department received four new vehicles. Jordan also said the Southern Georgia Regional Commission needs a resolution to file for GDOT 5311 program funds so regional transit service can continue.
Jordan said the county should allocate $3,820 from ARPA interest to pay for marking of a 2023 Ford Explorer purchased for the Fire Department because the insurance deductible has not yet been recovered.
Jordan also told the board that terms for Dr. Homer Day and Jay Short on the Tift County Development Authority are expiring Sept. 14 and that Legacy Behavioral Health requested reappointment of Chris Griffin to the South Georgia Community Service Board; no other applications were on file. The board placed the appointments on the Sept. 9 regular agenda.
No formal votes on these consent items were taken at the workshop; the board directed staff to place them on the next regular meeting agenda.
