Tift County plans TSPLOST-funded culvert and road repairs totaling about $143,289

Public Works Director Jason Jordan told the Tift County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 3 that staff performed an emergency repair to a culvert on Omega-Eldorado Road about four months earlier to keep the road safe and open.
To prevent undermining of the roadway in the future, Jordan recommended that Southern Concrete install sheet piling with a concrete apron on the inlet side and stone rip rap on the outlet side of the culvert. Jordan estimated the work at $42,000 and said funding would come from TSPLOST.
Jordan also reported that the Scruggs Company agreed to complete a double cross drain repair on Old Ocilla Road and a major base failure repair on Hall Road at the unit prices in the county's current LMIG contract. He estimated the cost at $101,289.16, with funding to come from TSPLOST. The board indicated its desire to place the repairs on the Sept. 9 consent agenda.
No formal vote on funding or contractor selection took place at the workshop; commissioners placed the items on the consent agenda for the upcoming regular meeting.
