The Coffee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a memorandum of agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation on Dec. 19 to provide $50,000 toward right-of-way expenses for the replacement of the bridge on County Road 705 (Bridgetown Road) at the Satilla River.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers told the board the agreement covers the county’s $50,000 contribution for expenses associated with the right-of-way phase of the bridge replacement. Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Oscar Paulk seconded the motion and all commissioners voted in favor.
The approval authorizes county staff to proceed with the MOA with GDOT for that portion of the project. The board did not specify a construction timetable during the special called meeting; further scheduling, permitting and construction steps will follow GDOT procedures and any additional local approvals required.
The board convened for this single-topic vote as part of a brief special meeting that also addressed other county business.
