Autauga County Commission moves Polling Precinct 0030 to Vida Community Center, will pursue Autaugaville voting center

The Autauga County Commission voted unanimously Oct. 21 to relocate Polling Precinct 0030 from Billingsley Community Center to Vida Community Center at 1943 County Road 19 North in Prattville, citing better handicap accessibility and parking.

Commissioner Bill Tatum moved to adopt Resolution #2026-3, and Commissioner John L. Thrailkill seconded the motion, which carried by unanimous vote. The resolution says Vida Community Center is within the same precinct, is available for upcoming election cycles and will allow the county to examine the possibility of voting centers in the future.

Separately, the commission voted to pursue local legislation to designate the Autaugaville Volunteer Fire Department as a voting center to serve voters in the specified precincts in districts 2 and 5, and to stop using Central Alabama Electric Cooperative as a polling location for those precincts. Commissioner Rusty Jacksland made the motion and Commissioner Terry Tanner seconded it; the motion passed unanimously.

The actions change where voters in several small precincts will go to cast ballots and were presented as administrative adjustments to polling locations rather than changes to precinct boundaries. The commission set no implementation date in the minutes; county staff will carry out the administrative steps required to effect the relocation and pursue the local legislation.

The commission took the votes as part of its routine business session and adjourned at 5:24 p.m. Its next scheduled meeting is Nov. 4, 2025.
