County receives program updates; mutual-aid agreement with Mecklenburg presented
Summary
County staff and local agencies updated the board on community programs, extension events, and a pending sheriff's grant; the director of public safety presented a Charlotte'Mecklenburg Fire-EMS mutual-aid agreement that had been reviewed by the county attorney.
Multiple presenters updated the board May 8 on programs and county operations.
Petrina Carter of the Tri County Community Action Agency said TCCAA offers Volunteer Tax Assistance, has been awarded a grant for Permanent Supportive Housing, obtained a Class A contractor's license, received a clean low-risk audit, and is drafting a new strategic plan. Darla Marks of the Extension Office described "Hay Day" on May 19, summer camp openings including 4-H camp at Holiday Lake, and a $65 water test kit with pickup July 17 and return by July 26. Sheriff Royal Freeman reported his department's budget showed a decrease and said a grant application had been accepted but had not yet received final approval.
Chris Russell, Director of Public Safety, presented a Charlotte'Mecklenburg Fire-EMS Mutual Aid Agreement and said it had been reviewed by County Attorney Slayton. Russell told the board Charlotte County does not yet have mutual-aid agreements with other counties but he is working to develop them; Supervisor Walter T. Bailey encouraged pursuing additional agreements.
