Spencer County Fiscal Court authorized a reorganization of the judge’s office and approved new hourly pay rates for several positions during its Jan. 4 special meeting.
Under a motion approved by the court, the judge’s office staffing and compensation were set as follows: Deputy Judge Executive/Economic Development $26.00 per hour, one Office Staff/Administrative Assistant $25.00 per hour, and Finance Officer $20.00 per hour. The action was taken pursuant to KRS 67.711 (authority for deputy county judge/executive and office personnel) and KRS 64.530(4) (fiscal court compensation authority).
County Judge Scott Travis said the move reflected statutory provisions allowing appointment and compensation of deputies and assistants at the judge’s pleasure with fiscal court approval. The motion to realign the judge’s office and set the pay rates was made by Esq. Cotton, seconded by Esq. Eldridge, and approved by a voice vote of the full court.
At the same meeting the judge also said he planned to move a staff member, identified in the packet only by the first name Katie, into the finance office to meet statutory requirements that the county have a finance officer separate from the treasurer. The packet and the court did not specify Katie’s current or new hourly wage beyond the stated finance-officer rate.
