Cheatham County commissioners on Oct. 21 authorized environmental testing at the George Boyd Road site and approved contracting with a jail architect as the county advances facility planning.
County Mayor Kerry McCarver presented several agreements for the Mayor’s signature, including an ECS Southeast LLP services agreement for analysis/testing of the George Boyd Road property intended for a new highway facility. Commissioners initially asked to pull the testing agreement from general signature items but later approved the contract on a motion by David Anderson, seconded by Tim Williamson. The motion authorized testing not to exceed $25,000 and made approval contingent on the county attorney’s review and accepted changes to the agreement.
The body also approved the Mayor’s signature on a jail architect agreement with HFR Design, Inc. Commissioners scheduled a meeting with HFR Design for Nov. 6, 2019, at 5 p.m. in the David McCullough Room to review 21 items of concern related to the jail design and planning.
Other procurement items approved that evening included jail food service with Tiger (agreement authorized for Mayor signature) and copier agreements with RJ Young for the Mayor’s Office and the Veterans Service Office.
