Cheatham County clears three rezones, approves budget tweaks and hears flood update

Chairman Donnie Jordan convened the Cheatham County Legislative Body on Feb. 25 in the General Sessions Courtroom in Ashland City. The commission approved multiple land-use decisions, authorized budget adjustments and contracts, and received an update on county flood response.
Emergency Management Director Edwin Hogan told commissioners the Feb. 23 flood produced no fatalities or injuries, damage assessments were underway and county staff would meet to determine how to assist with debris disposal. Commissioners publicly commended emergency personnel and road crews for their response.
On land use, the commission handled three advertised rezoning requests. The board approved Michael Waynick’s request to rezone property at 1341 Highway 49 East from R1 to E1 after a Planning Commission recommendation in favor.
