Loudon County Commission approves courthouse sidewalk interlocal deal and multiple zoning map changes

The Loudon County Commission on April 1 approved an interlocal cooperation agreement with Loudon City to reimburse sidewalk replacement at the courthouse and adopted multiple zoning-map amendments.

The interlocal agreement for courthouse sidewalk replacement was presented by the mayor and moved for approval by Commissioner Snaver; Commissioner Randolph seconded. The measure passed on a roll-call vote with the commissioners recorded as voting in favor. Director of Accounts and Budgets Erin Rice later explained the county’s reimbursement recommendation and the commission approved an increase in the county appropriation to match the interlocal arrangement.

The commission also approved two zoning amendments described by the planning presenter. One resolution recast a parcel from a general-industrial classification to an agricultural/forest/other district; a second amended another parcel from the A-2/Regional Residential classification toward an R-1/Suburban-Residential designation. Both zoning items were moved, seconded and adopted by voice vote.

Commissioners framed the votes as routine land-use updates tied to the county’s planning recommendations and moved quickly from the readings to final votes. The meeting record shows the body took roll-call votes where required by ordinance for certain items and approved the motions that were presented.

The meeting packet and commission record list the resolution numbers associated with the measures. The commission’s action puts the sidewalk project under an interlocal reimbursement arrangement and updates the county zoning map as described in the resolutions. The county did not specify a construction timetable during the April 1 meeting.
