Planning Commission recommends approval to recertify Brodnax cell tower and allow equipment upgrades

The Lunenburg County Planning Commission on Nov. 3 recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve recertification and equipment upgrades for an existing 250-foot wireless telecommunications tower at 871 Long View Drive in Brodnax.
Luke Vinciguerra of SBA Communications told commissioners the company owns the tower and is requesting recertification and approval to place upgraded T‑Mobile equipment. He reviewed the tower's history and noted compliance with local ordinance requirements; he also suggested the county consider revisiting the five‑year recertification requirement for towers.
Taylor N. Newton presented the staff report prepared by CTA Consultants. Commissioners expressed no objections; Chairman Tharpe said he saw no issue and noted the upgrade was needed. Commissioner Trent moved to recommend approval to the Board of Supervisors and Commissioner Thompson seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
