Lunenburg supervisors approve two camping conditional-use permits for RV park and wedding guests

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 10 unanimously approved two conditional use permits to allow camping facilities in agricultural zones.

The first, CUP 2-24, would convert a pre-existing mobile home park into Landview RV Park on about 13.98 acres spanning parcels on Simplicity Road and Pine Road in Keysville. County Administrator Tracy M. Gee told the board the Planning Commission recommended approval with conditions, and the permit will prohibit permanent residences and require private disposal of solid waste rather than use of county convenience centers.

The second, CUP 3-24, authorizes a camping facility on a 2.79-acre parcel owned by Robert D. Foley near Courthouse Road for guests of an on-site wedding venue. Foley told the board the site would likely host no more than three campers at a time and “for longer than 72 hours” would not occur; he added, according to the application record, that the site would not provide water, electricity or septic and would be secured behind a locked gate and wooded buffer.

Supervisor T. Wayne Hoover moved to approve CUP 2-24 by resolution, seconded by Supervisor Frank W. Bacon; the motion passed unanimously. Hoover then moved to approve CUP 3-24, seconded by Supervisor Edward Pennington; that motion also passed unanimously.

Administrator Gee asked the board to authorize the chairman to sign finalized CUP resolutions when they are prepared so documentation does not wait until the next meeting. The board unanimously approved the authorization.

The approvals include conditions recommended by county staff and the Planning Commission; the final resolutions will document those conditions when prepared.
