Alpena County's Personnel Committee voted on May 6 to move forward filling the county's Emergency Management position without a partnership with Montmorency County, and County Administrator Jesse Osmer told the committee Alpena will absorb about $45,000 Montmorency would have paid.
Administrator Osmer said the county had previously explored partnering with Montmorency County to share an Emergency Manager but has withdrawn that option for now. Notices for the position have already gone out and Osmer said many qualified applicants applied. He recommended Alpena County proceed with filling the position and noted that without the partnership the county will need to absorb approximately $45,000 previously expected from Montmorency.
Commissioner Todd Britton moved to recommend approval to proceed without Montmorency County; Commissioner Lucille Bray supported the motion. The roll-call vote was recorded AYES: Commissioners Bray, Britton, and Chair Brenda Foumier; NAYS: None. The recommendation is recorded as Action Item #2.
