Alpena County board approves equipment sales, seeks tree-harvest quotes and backs BEAD broadband support
Summary
Commissioners approved selling an old Long Lake Park truck, authorized seeking quotes to harvest trees on county property to offset study costs, approved Courthouse tree trimming, and voted to provide a letter of support for Shawnee Communications' BEAD broadband application.
Administrator Jesse Osmer told the board the Parks and Recreation Commission received an old truck in exchange for a red truck used at the fairgrounds and asked permission to sell the old Long Lake Park vehicle; the board approved the sale.
Osmer said property near Long Lake Park may require a wetland study and potential road work with costs approaching $15,000; to offset those costs he requested authorization to obtain quotes to harvest trees from the property, and the board approved obtaining quotes.
Osmer also requested approval for Grounds and Maintenance to trim a tree at the Courthouse that had been saved during earlier sewer repairs; the board unanimously approved trimming the tree.
Separately, Osmer reported contact from Mr. Makowske of a college drone program asking for a letter supporting MightyFly's use of local airspace, and Chairman John Kozlowski reported an email from Shawnee Communications seeking a letter of support for a BEAD broadband application. The board approved a letter of support for Shawnee Communications for the BEAD program.
