Commission to reactivate Recreation Board, consider appointments and CDBG engineering selection

At its Jan. 16 work session, the Ware County Board of Commissioners added several appointment and selection items to its regular-meeting agenda.
The commission approved reactivation of the Recreation Advisory Board by resolution and presented a slate of appointees with randomly assigned one-, two- or three-year terms to stagger end dates; future appointments will follow Ware County Code for five-year terms. The named appointees and term end dates were recorded in the minutes.
The Waycross–Ware County Development Authority asked the commission to appoint Daniel Morris to fill an unexpired County Seat #3 term after Thomas Wesley relocated outside Ware County; the Downtown Waycross Development Authority vacancy (term expired Dec. 31, 2024) was also noted. Using state-mandated score sheets and tabulated results from Southern Georgia Regional Commission, the scoring team recommended Statewide Engineering as the highest‑scoring firm for 2025 CDBG engineering services; that recommendation was added to the regular meeting agenda.
